Stolen Bicycle Resources

This page is dedicated to the community that has had there bicycle stolen.  The information about bicycle theft that I have gathered will end up here.  I hope you like it as it grows.  At this point I would like to inform you that if you are interested in what it is that I am doing I invite you to visit me on Thursday's at the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen as I will be volunteering there between the hours of 6 and 9 PM. The Bicycle Kitchen is located at 19th and I next to the railroad tracks in the alleyway.  This will be an extremely large project I wish to kick off.  I will need assistance in many aspects for this idea of WALK THE WHEEL.  Now onto cycle theft.

So if you just had your cycle stolen...Firstly I will say this "GET A POLICE REPORT" very important.  This is how you are going to get your property back.  For the City of Sacramento you can go here.

Police Reports Online

I have designed a page for google maps to assist in aiding to a project for pointing out hot spots that will show you where NOT to park your bicycle.  If you bicycle was stolen please either send me information or input all that you can.  I want specifics such as; where was it parked.  I don't mean this by at Safeway, what intersection, on a bicycle rack or pole.  Was it locked and how??? Did you use a U-lock or cable???  Do you know the brand name and model of the lock so we can provide specific details.  How long did you leave it?  Was it enough time to get a cup of coffee or was it while you were on vacation?  What kind of bicycle was it?  Make, model, color, dents?  Where are the dents located?  Scratches....  I'm saying be specific if you get my idea.  Baskets? If you have pictures send them to me....  This is very important PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES.....  Very helpful.

Here is a link to my google map for stolen cycles.  Check it out here.

Check out the local area's where stolen bicycles end up at....  Here is a few places I have heard that people have located there stolen bicycle at.....  I would advise to take extreme caution when dealing with places that do or have sold stolen bicycles.  You do not have to pay for a cycle that is stolen, however you do have to utilize caution when talking with these types of people.  My advise is to act like you are looking to buy if you are approached.  You never know a little talk could have someone bringing your bike from the back straight to you.  Don't assume it will be there the first time you go....  Make sure to check into these places as often as you can.  The stock in these places can move fast as the bicycle theft racket is a billion dollar industry.  Correct industry!
